The world premier of Duncan Jones’ mind bending, time travel thriller Source Code opens this years SXSW Film Conference & Festival March 11 – 19, 2011 in Austin, Texas. A welcome return to the site of great success in 2009 for Duncan’s first feature MOON.
Speaking to Erik Davis in this months SXSWORLD Duncan explains the attraction of the festival:
“For me, SXSW is so much more about fans and , generally, film lovers who may not neccessarily be involved in the ‘industry’, but who care abut film as much as anyone else.
They’ve got real lives; real jobs, and this is just something they have a real passion for. It doesn’t feel ‘industry’. These people are going to see it because they want to, not because they have to.”
As well as presenting the premier of Source Code, Duncan will also be joined by cast members Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan at a panel on Saturday the 12th of March ‘SXSW Straight From the Source (Code)’ A blessing as there was a time when the marketing of his films was down to Duncan, and Duncan alone.
Thanks to Larry Richman for the SXSW panels pointer, details on the Source Code panel and much more on Larry’s site.
This months SXSWORLD containing Erik Davis’ complete interview with Duncan is available now on iPad & iPhone via the Apple App Store and later to read online at the SXSW site.
