Whatever the future holds for Duncan Jones after ‘Source Code‘, it is certainly not going to be at the helm of the movie adaptation of Alex Kershaw’s book ‘Escape From The Deep‘
Confirmed on twitter in conversation with Collider writer, Jake Lasker, Duncan confirmed that he will not be Directing “..the sub movie” after Jake enquired “dying to hear about Mute…when will we get info? Or is the sub movie next?” to which Duncan replied “not on the sub movie anymore, but trying hard to get one of two things made next. Mute is one of those 2”
Now we are all obviously interested in news on any developments with ‘Mute‘ being the next anticipated original material from Mr.Jones, being described in the past as his love letter to Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Philip K. Dick’s ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep’, ‘Blade Runner‘.
Set in the same fictional universe as Jones’ 2009 debut feature ‘MOON‘ and also set to feature a cameo by Sam Rockwell, returning as Sam Bell to offer maybe a small epilogue to his story in ‘MOON’. But now we also have a new, mystery movie added to the mix as well, with not a hint of what it might be…
Anyway, before we get carried away with what might be, we definitely have ‘Source Code‘ to look forward to. As announced recently, ‘Source Code‘ will open, and receive it’s world premier, at the 2011 SXSW South By Southeast Film Conference and Festival in Austin, Texas.
The question is, what is an up and coming Director to wear? What kind of entrance to make to maximise the publicity opportunities? Piecing together the clues (reading Duncan’s tweets) I believe we can look forward to the first, public appearance of Oddball Jones, rolling up to the ‘Source Code’ Premier in a Sherman, baby 😉
