Source Code Update: Jake Gyllenhaal Jumps Out Of A Moving Train!

Source Code is now halfway through shooting schedule. From a set shrouded in secrecy, we can only piece together fragments of fact from the tweets of Director Duncan Jones. So what do we know?
March 23rd – Russell Peters wraps. Canadian comedian Russell had to re-schedule live dates on a sold out tour to be able to meet the shooting schedule for his extended role in SC, such was his enthusiasm for the project. Luckily for all those RP fans out there, he has been released back into the wild, to resume his tour. As the only free man from the SC set, we have been in touch to ask him a few questions. so look out for that in the near future (unless transmissions are intercepted)
“Lafies and gentlemen… Its a WRAP!!! @ManMadeMoon thank u for taking a chance on me… Ur a great guy and an awesome director!!”

After March 24th we start to see more choo choo business going on, Duncan has mentioned previously that they had a full size train built to play with, I understand from sources that this was no Hornby boys dream situation, but like proper, for the film.
“So bout to shoot Jake having a scuffle with a train official in a room about the size of an ALIENWARE DESKTOP COMPUTER…”

So there ay go, a fact no-one else was aware of, Jake Gyllenhaal can fit inside an Alienware desktop PC, some talent in addition to the acting and Kung-Fu!
Friday 26th March 2010 seemed to get Mr.Jones excited, in a breaking stuff & blowing stuff up type way.
“Today is stunt work & effects day! My kind of day!”

“hah! Jake jumping out of a moving train today! Weeeee!”

JAKE JUMPING OUT OF A MOVING TRAIN? What the hell would that look like? Well, luckily I have a 7 year old illustrator to hand for situations like this, after entering a trance and channelling residual vision of the events from Duncan’s eyes, via touching the tweet, we have this.
INSERT TOBIAS’ PIC
Pretty convincing I think you will agree, although I am a bit concerned about the exploding body bits. If you are reading this Duncan, maybe you would care to comment on what, at the moment, is kinda made up?
And what better way to end the week, than with a lame pun, so here it is.
End of day 20! half way through Source Code shoot & having a… Blast! (lame explosion pun intended.)

Duncan Jones Source Code updates – Week 1

Source Code Mock Up by @Malusman

Source Code‘ Mock Up by @malusman

Filming of Duncan Jones new feature ‘Source Code’ has completed it’s first week already! Week two will begin tomorrow, but how’s it going so far? Luckily Duncan has popped out a couple of fresh tweets this afternoon to let us know.

So! 1st week on Source Code: built a train, and it’s a beauty, but a bugger to shoot on. JG & MM are such a good laugh! Love em to bits.

JG & MM being Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan, ‘Source Code’ also stars Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga, and will also feature the recently announced Russell Peters.

Jones continued:

SC has more humour in it than we saw on the page, & that’s been great fun! Shot some of our effects tests & they’re wonderfully horrible!

Additional humour may well come from Russell Peters extended scenes, as his official site press release states:

The reason for the re-scheduling is that Russell has landed a role in the Sci-fi action movie, Source Code. The film is set to be directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) and star Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye).  Originally scheduled to start shooting after the Australian tour, Russell’s shoot dates were moved-up when the producers decided to expand his role in the film with additional scenes and dialogue.  Russell must now report to set on February 23rd until the end of March.  (Which also means that his Las Vegas show on March 27th will need to be re-scheduled).

So, there ya go, sounds like all on track, and building up a nice head of steam :P We’ll keep you updated as and when we hear owt else.
