COMPETITION: Stand Up To Win $126.00 & More…

Russell Peters accepts Jake Jake Gyllenhaal's challenge in Source Code

It’s been bloomin’ yonks since we had a competition here, so Duncan has come up with one that harks back to the great MOON competitions he did back in the olden times (ok 2009).

In the still image from Source Code above, you can see Max Denoff (Russell Peters) accepting Colter Stevens’ (Jake Gyllenhaal) challenge to make all the people on their train laugh. Duncan’s challenge to you is…

Perform a stand up comedy routine on a train in front of all the passengers and get a friend to film it. Upload the video evidence to youtube, vimeo etc and send us a link to prove you did it. We’ll compile them all into a blog post and have a public vote. The one with the most votes wins.

Just like Max the winner will receive $126.00 in cash from Source Code Director Duncan Jones, and some other nice bits & bobs Duncan will pop together to make it all worth your while 🙂

Sounds simple, but have you got the bottle? Eh?…

Tweet links of your video evidence to Duncan @ManMadeMoon using hashtag #SourceCodeStandUp or e-mail a link to me here unklerupert@manmademovies.co.uk.

We’ll set an end date when we get a few in so you know what your up against.

Good luck, and have fun!

UPDATE!!

Seems @crimsong19 wants to do his “routine” on an Ox & Cart, so we’re opening this up to any form of mass transport. Now warm up, gargle, La La La Laaaaaaaaa, and GET OUT THERE!

SOURCE CODE Breaks Through $100 Million Dollars At Worldwide Box Office!

ENTER THE SOURCE CODE

Just last week, Duncan Jones announced on Twitter that SOURCE CODE had hit $50 Million at the US domestic box office, which in itself was a fantastic achievement!

Duncan Jones announces Source Code hits $50 million at US Box Office - 6th may 2011We can now also announce that, over the last weekend, SOURCE CODE has hit over $100, 000, 000.00 in world wide box office. Flippin’ fantastic! And I am guessing maybe a smidgen more than the whole cast, crew, and production team may hoped for.

Brilliant reviews and great word of mouth has spread as SOURCE CODE has rolled out worldwide, and helped to keep it in the US & UK Top 10 for 4/5 weeks after the initial April 1st release date.

In the last two weeks Australia, New Zealand, Poland and Indonesia had their first taste of the mind bending second feature from MOON Director Duncan Jones, and there are still quite a few countries to go before SOURCE CODE completes it’s worldwide theatrical run.

Thanks to everyone who has been out and bought tickets to experience & support SOURCE CODE, showing what we all know, that a lot of us appreciate intelligent, thought provoking, emotionally involving cinema, made by a fantastic team.

MAHOOSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!!! to Director Duncan Jones, Writer Ben Ripley, Stars Jake Gyllehaal, Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan, Jeffrey Wright, Russell Peters & the rest of the cast, composer Chris Bacon and everyone at The Mark Gordon Company, Vendome Pictures & Summit Entertainment.

There’s still time to catch SOURCE CODE at the cinema, for the first time, or for a return visit 🙂

And we are constantly updating the remaining worldwide release dates, so hopefully, you’ll be able to enjoy SOURCE CODE on the big screen near you soon, if you haven’t already.

Thanks! 🙂

Source Code Filming Completes Today

And so, it came to pass, that Thursday 29th April 2010 came to be the final day on the ‘Source Code‘ shoot in Montreal. Director, Duncan Jones announced this very thing, this very day on the Twitter:

This time last year, Duncan was but a first time feature Director, awaiting the release of his first feature ‘MOON‘, now look at him, thoughts cast to the future of the Jet Set life in Blackpool, UK. This is the dream kids, apply yourself to your chosen field, and you too could one day take your partner up the Tower Ballroom!

Shooting began on ‘Source Code’ on March 1st 2010, with principal shoot in Montreal, Cananda, and a second unit shooting in Chicago, USA. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan, Jeffrey Wright, and Russell Peters, ‘Source Code’ is a Sci-Fi story centered on a soldier (Coulter Stevens played by Gyllehaal) who wakes up in the body of a commuter who witnesses a train explosion. All is not as it seems however, as Stevens is tasked with discovering the source of the explosion, and each time he fails, has to relive the same events again and again, piecing together the clues to discover the cause of the explosion.

Update: It’s a wrap! Source Code… Shot! 29th April 2010 – 23:20 Montreal time.

Source Code: Duncan Jones boggles Jake Gyllenhaals Mind + Set Description

Jake Gyllenhaal has been enthusing once again on working with Duncan Jones on ‘Source Code’. Speaking to Ain’t It Cool News‘ Quint during last weekends Wondercon 2010 in San Francisco, Gyllenhaal claimed the movie they are currently filming in Montreal is “mind boggling”

On working with Duncan Jones:

“Duncan is so awesome and he is an extraordinary director – working with him has been that exactly and I think this movie that we are making is mind boggling.”

“I’m telling you man, he is really quite something. His mind… he comes from quite a pedigree, just artistically, but on his own I believe he is the next generation. He is blowing my mind on a daily basis.

“To me, working with him, it’s surprising, his instinct, his sense of collaboration, but at the same time truly being an auteur…”He’s the real deal man. Anyone who has seen [MOON] knows that and this – you are really going to like it!”

Good to hear Jake enthusing about ‘Source Code’ and working with Duncan, and we have had further details on what the film will look like from Duncan’s Twitter feed this afternoon:

Got fingers crossed for Japanese Moon opening… in the meantime, today is the last day of shooting in our highly surreal “Pod” sets!

Sets are so bizarre… like Geiger had a baby with Escher, and then fooled around with Picasso in his randy cubist period!

I also have to say that Jake G is funny as hell, and Russell Peters had his hands full trying to keep up with Jake’s on set improvs.

Right! Back to set for our last half day of shooting in the seriously weird-arse surreal set! Hoooya!

Unfortunately, will not be able to engage the skills of my junior artist to create a mock up of that lot (like with the train), may bend his developing brain a bit.

Source Code Update: Jake Gyllenhaal Jumps Out Of A Moving Train!

Source Code is now halfway through shooting schedule. From a set shrouded in secrecy, we can only piece together fragments of fact from the tweets of Director Duncan Jones. So what do we know?
March 23rd – Russell Peters wraps. Canadian comedian Russell had to re-schedule live dates on a sold out tour to be able to meet the shooting schedule for his extended role in SC, such was his enthusiasm for the project. Luckily for all those RP fans out there, he has been released back into the wild, to resume his tour. As the only free man from the SC set, we have been in touch to ask him a few questions. so look out for that in the near future (unless transmissions are intercepted)
“Lafies and gentlemen… Its a WRAP!!! @ManMadeMoon thank u for taking a chance on me… Ur a great guy and an awesome director!!”

After March 24th we start to see more choo choo business going on, Duncan has mentioned previously that they had a full size train built to play with, I understand from sources that this was no Hornby boys dream situation, but like proper, for the film.
“So bout to shoot Jake having a scuffle with a train official in a room about the size of an ALIENWARE DESKTOP COMPUTER…”
http://twitter.com/ManMadeMoon/status/10982682683
So there ay go, a fact no-one else was aware of, Jake Gyllenhaal can fit inside an Alienware desktop PC, some talent in addition to the acting and Kung-Fu!
Friday 26th March 2010 seemed to get Mr.Jones excited, in a breaking stuff & blowing stuff up type way.
“Today is stunt work & effects day! My kind of day!”
http://twitter.com/ManMadeMoon/status/11091145513
“hah! Jake jumping out of a moving train today! Weeeee!”
http://twitter.com/ManMadeMoon/status/11092122210
JAKE JUMPING OUT OF A MOVING TRAIN? What the hell would that look like? Well, luckily I have a 7 year old illustrator to hand for situations like this, after entering a trance and channelling residual vision of the events from Duncan’s eyes, via touching the tweet, we have this.
INSERT TOBIAS’ PIC
Pretty convincing I think you will agree, although I am a bit concerned about the exploding body bits. If you are reading this Duncan, maybe you would care to comment on what, at the moment, is kinda made up?
And what better way to end the week, than with a lame pun, so here it is.
End of day 20! half way through Source Code shoot & having a… Blast! (lame explosion pun intended.)

Duncan Jones Source Code updates – Week 1

Source Code Mock Up by @Malusman

Source Code‘ Mock Up by @malusman

Filming of Duncan Jones new feature ‘Source Code’ has completed it’s first week already! Week two will begin tomorrow, but how’s it going so far? Luckily Duncan has popped out a couple of fresh tweets this afternoon to let us know.

So! 1st week on Source Code: built a train, and it’s a beauty, but a bugger to shoot on. JG & MM are such a good laugh! Love em to bits.

JG & MM being Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan, ‘Source Code’ also stars Jeffrey Wright and Vera Farmiga, and will also feature the recently announced Russell Peters.

Jones continued:

SC has more humour in it than we saw on the page, & that’s been great fun! Shot some of our effects tests & they’re wonderfully horrible!

Additional humour may well come from Russell Peters extended scenes, as his official site press release states:

The reason for the re-scheduling is that Russell has landed a role in the Sci-fi action movie, Source Code. The film is set to be directed by Duncan Jones (Moon) and star Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead), Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Michelle Monaghan (Eagle Eye).  Originally scheduled to start shooting after the Australian tour, Russell’s shoot dates were moved-up when the producers decided to expand his role in the film with additional scenes and dialogue.  Russell must now report to set on February 23rd until the end of March.  (Which also means that his Las Vegas show on March 27th will need to be re-scheduled).

So, there ya go, sounds like all on track, and building up a nice head of steam 😛 We’ll keep you updated as and when we hear owt else.
