New Source Code & MOON Posters By Greg Stekelman

Duncan Jones’ MOON and Source Code have inspired many artists to come up with posters, as alternatives to the official, studio produced promotional material.

None have quite realised the full combination of emotional impact and humour, that are at the heart of much of Duncan’s work. That is until now, as we present the work of writer and illustrator Greg Stekelman, tweeted to Duncan this evening.

The artist states “I tried not to give away too many key plot points. I also think Gertie might have worked quite well with Kevin Costner. The two “O”s are smiling and frowning, representing the duality of man, and the bittersweet ambivalence of Sam Bell.”

Source Code Indian Poster?

Screen Daily reported last month that Indian film distributor 52 Weeks Entertainment had snapped up the Indian rights to Duncan Jones’ Source Code, for an April release (Yay for India!)

And now a poster has surfaced over on Internet Movie Poster Awards, that may well be the Indian poster itself?

Source Code Indian Market Poster?

Nice addition to the ever increasing collection of posters either way, what do you think?

Well spotted @lpoolfilmnerd ;)

Source Code: Change The Past – Save The Future

We are just days away from the Source Code premier at SXSW this coming Friday, March 11th, and things are really heating up on the promotion front.

Large billboards are popping up around LA (would love a pic if anyone spots one). Duncan Jones will be joined by stars Jake Gyllenhaal & Michelle Monaghan to take part in a panel at SXSW on Saturday 12th March, before whizzing off on a 6 stop promotional tour of advance screenings with Q&A. And as you may have seen already Summit Entertainment have released a brand new UK Source Code poster!

And now, a second TV spot, highlighting the “Change The Past, Save The Future” strap line.

Advance screenings are already taking place of course for the press, to co-ordinate reviews online, and in print with the April 1st release date, some lovely feedback coming in on twitter includes:

“SOURCE CODE marks a second home run for @ManMadeMoon. A heady sci-fi film infused with wonderful popcorn entertainment & heart.”

“Source Code is your typical sci-fi if by “science” you mean “totally” and by “fiction” you mean “kicks your ass”

“Source Code is exactly the sort of movie you hope someone as smart as Duncan Jones would make, if given a budget.”

“SOURCE CODE is fucking smart. Blockbuster pacing, but still that same great Duncan Jones understanding of sci-fi. Well played @manmademoon.”

All getting rather exciting. We’ve got a man on the spot at SXSW for the premier on Friday, so hopefully we’ll have some good stuff for you over the weekend :)

Source Code: Poster By Daniel Norris

Blimey, it’s poster week! Source Code doesn’t open until April 1st, but we’ve already had amazing Poster art from Olly Moss, Simon C Page and Lloyd Stas, add to that this lovely piece playing off the Source Code being a DNA ladder.

As you’ll see from Daniel’s Tumblr entry, he was inspired by the amazing poster work we’ve already seen.

Thanks for letting us share, Daniel :)

Olly Moss Creates SXSW 2011 Posters for Source Code & MOON

If your a fan of the art of movie posters, you’ll already know who Olly Moss is. A ridiculously talented young man, who has an uncanny ability for filtering the essence of a movie into one, simple, yet stunning image.

For this years South By Southwest (SXSW), Olly has created posters for Duncan Jones’ Source Code, which premiers at, and opens the Austin, Texas based festival, and as if that wasn’t good enough, Olly has also produced a wonderful piece for MOON.

Duncan could hardly contain his excitement at the prospect of releasing these images, and tweeted last night:

Very excited to be able to announce that some time tomorrow, the amazing @ollymoss will be revealing a spanky new Source Code poster! YES!

Just need to big up @MondoNews for being the peeps behind the incoming @ollymoss poster. Seen it, and it makes my mind smile.

Simon C Page Shows Us The Source Code

Simon C Page - Source Code Poster

Well, as Duncan has just said “The internet is brilliant for all sorts of reasons. For me, today, its because of this – Love it!” “This” being the bloody lovely ‘Source Code‘ poster above, that Simon C Page popped up on his portfolio earlier this evening.

We’ve seen a wonderful poster already from Lloyd Stas, and of course we now have the official poster, all featuring the stars of the film, but this is raw, naked, code, which is bound to have an appeal for some of you out there (and certainly stirred something in my sub processes)

Simon has very kindly dropped us an e-mail to explain his ideas behind the poster:

The idea was quite a simple one as coding is the first thing, I imagine, most people like myself think of when they hear the words “source code”. Therefore I thought it would be interesting to do a teaser style poster incorporating some looping code functions to tie in with the movies repetitive elements of Colter’s travels.

I initially went at it with more geeky code (where just the loop and statement parts were really understandable) but realised if I used an early BASIC language it would make the coding much more legible for all and make it quite interesting for people to work out the movie plot from this code.

I generally don’t do many movie poster except if I have a good idea. I’m probably best know for my minimalistic geometric style and one of my most popular series are my International Year of Astronomy Posters

Thanks to Simon, for a brilliant poster design, and for taking the time to get in touch as well. Now I suggest you pop over to Simon’s site and check out the rest of his portfolio.

Poster Released for Duncan Jone’s Source Code

I dunno, I nip out to the local picture palace for a couple of hours, and come back to discover they’ve only gone and released the poster for Source Code it’s down there look…

Source Code Poster 2011For some reason I’ve been listening to this while looking at it…for the last hour…

Source Code Poster by Lloyd Stas

Remember the poster for ‘Mute‘ we featured recently? Well artist Lloyd Stas has been busy, and inspired once again by the work of Director Duncan Jones, Lloyd has sent us this fantastic poster for Duncan’s soon to be released 2nd feature ‘Source Code

Source Code Poster by Lloyd Stas

I asked Lloyd to give us a bit of background on his work:

I absolutely love movie posters, it’s such a distinct and iconic medium so I have an endless list of influences on my designs.

I like to think by creating my own posters for the films I love, some other people might see them and think “Hey, that’s pretty cool”.

Ever since I saw Moon for the first time, I instantly fell in love with Duncan Jones’ work and have been waiting with baited breath for his next project, making a poster is probably just my way of dealing with my excitement. As soon as I first heard about the film I wanted to make a poster, I’m just surprised it’s taken me this long.

I am 23 years old. I finished my Film degree last year and have mainly spent the time since doing stuff with my band (Swound!). We’ve just finished recording our album before Christmas so since then, I’ve been able to focus on my graphic design work a bit more.

Lloyd is building up quite a portfolio, check out his Flickr stream for further examples, and his fantastic Edgar Wright collection featured on Edgar’s blog here. Still stunned by the creativity and quality of contributions from fans out there, amazing stuff :)
