MOON Showing As Part Of The Filmhouse ‘What is Human Dignity?’ Season 26th November

MOON At Edinburgh Filmhouse What is Human Dignity? November 2011

Good News for fans of seeing MOON on the big screen in Edinburgh. Filmhouse includes a screening of Duncan Jones’ award winning feature debut as part of the short ‘What is Human Dignity?‘ season beginning Friday 25th November.

MOON itself will screen on Saturday 26th November at 18:00 and includes a post screening discussion with a panel of bioethics and medical law specialists covering some of the issues raised in the film.

They may be taking a DNA sample on the way out, but this is nothing to worry about, just part of the “the experience”, there is no truth in the rumour that the screening is sponsored by Lunar Industries.

Thanks to Lilly Hunter & Lynne Henderson for the heads up :)

Joe Hill Has Exquisite Taste In Movie Posters

Joe Hill's Framed MOON PosterAuthor Joe Hill thinks there’s something kind of cool about having the Moon rise over his staircase, in fact that’s nearly exactly what he said on Twitter earlier to MOON Director, Duncan Jones.

Joe tweeted the beautifully framed poster to Duncan after hanging it over his staircase. Duncan for his part, was truly honoured. And who wouldn’t be honoured to receive such recognition from the incredibly popular author of 20th Century Ghosts, Heart-Shaped Box, Horns, and comic book series Locke & Key.

Of course mounting such a valuable piece of work can be a risky, and dangerous business, but Joe has assured everyone:

(Note: no lunar objects were damaged in the hanging of the aforementioned movie poster)

MOON Lunar Industries Halloween Pumpkin By Charles KlineAlways great to come across an out take from MOON, and here we have the result of a bit of pumpkin whittling from Lunar Industries employee Sam Bell while up on Sarang one Halloween, either that or it’s the result of some very handy carving from our own Sam Bell, Charles Kline from Colorado, USA.

Charles is an old friend of the blog, check out his amazing Sam Bell uniform if you’ve not seen it already.

Have a great Halloween everyone, and rest assured, if you are unable to get out Trick or Treating, Lunar Industries will be able to provide someone to do it for you, as you, while you have a…sleep…

Lunar Apple Industries – Siri V GERTY

As soon as Apple introduced their latest voice recognition system Siri for iOS 5 yesterday, it drew immediate comparisons with the AI assistants present in Sci-Fi films.

HAL from Stanley Kubrick’s ‘2001: A Space Odyssey‘ was an obvious one, with some commenting that each request to the new iPhone 4S could be greeted with “I’m sorry Dave, I’m afraid I can’t do that.

But by far the most popular request I noticed, was to get Kevin Spacey to voice Siri, reprising his role as GERTY from Duncan Jones’ MOON. What would it look like? What would he say? You don’t have to wait too long on the internet to find out, we just got this brilliant mock up from Twitter friend @morguendor :)

Poll: Would You Like To Be Able To Buy MOON Merchandise?

Since the release of MOON in 2009, there has been the odd request for a MOON merchandise. Unfortunately, there is no official merchandise available at the moment.

No official t-shirts, posters, badges, patches, mugs, robotic assistants, flowbees or sealed bags of beans exist. We occasionally manage to find some promotional bits & bobs to send out to competitions winners, or auction off for charity. But nothing you can actually order online, or go buy from a shop.

BUT WAIT! For MOON Director Duncan Jones has just told this:

There’s a CHANCE we may finally get to sell Moon posters & Collectors toys.

Basically we need to show there are at least 500 fans out there who would buy a Gerty desktop toy or a collectors Sam piece. :)

So, we’d like to get an idea of how many of you would be interested in buying some MOON gear, and what you’d like to be able to buy if it were possible. Please complete the poll below, and leave a comment, because I’ll be doing a random draw on the comments on Friday 16th at 23:00, and sending the winner a MOON promo T-Shirt (S/M or L) and a set of 4 MOON patches.

Many thanks in advance, I’m sure there are at least 10 of you out there, hopefully more ;)
