MUTE graphic novel being published by Dark Horse Comics and pumped full of the arty goodness of the master, Glenn Frickin’ Fabry!!! And as a very special gift & thank you to all my mates twitter… all 150,000+ of you, lay your eyes on this. :)”

Duncan also confirmed:

“Mute graphic novel is not finished yet, but Ill be signing this page of Glenn’s art from it.  So excited that Mute will finally exist!”

MUTE will be set in the same “Moon-iverse” as…MOON and is based in a near future Berlin. For those lucky enough to be at Comic-Con at the moment, Duncan will be signing copies of the image above at booth 2615 at 15:00 today (Sunday 21st July)

MUTE will be available…when it’s ready 😉

WoW! World Of Warcraft Gets It’s Director – DUNCAN JONES!

Blizzard - World Of Warcraft

Back in December 2010 Duncan Jones spoke to Devin Faraci at Badass Digest and eventually got on to the subject of video games and their adaptation to film, and what game would best make the transition to the big screen. At the time Sam Raimi was in the hot seat to direct World of Warcraft, something that brought the green eyed monster out in Duncan:

“I’m hugely jealous of Sam Raimi, I really believe World of Warcraft could be the launch of computer games as good films. And from the little I’ve read of interviews with him the way he’s approaching it makes so much sense. It’s what I was talking about – it’s not worrying about how the game plays, it’s about creating the world of the game and investing the audience in that world.”

Well things change, and Sam Raimi moved on to the soon to be released The Great and Mighty Oz, and the film adaptation of Blizzard’s incredibly successful MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) has been looking for a director, until now…

Exclusively broken just now over on The Hollywood Reporter, it has been announced that our old pal Duncan Jones (MOON, Source Code) will be heading off to Azeroth later this year as Director of ‘Warcraft’ with Legendary Pictures (Dark Knight Rises, Man of Steel) and Blizzard Entertainment.

This is a MASSIVE step up for Duncan who will be accompanied by long time producer Stuart Fenegan, and well deserved after the success of MOON (2009) and Source Code (2011). Being just a bit of a hard core gamer I think we can safely say he will do all you Warcraft fans proud, while at the same time creating a magical, living breathing world for us all to travel to, and experience fantastic adventures in. Confirming his acceptance of the challenge on Twitter just now, Duncan said:

So the gauntlet was thrown down ages ago: Can you make a proper MOVIE of a video game.  Ive always said its possible.  Got to DO it now! 😉

Congratulations Mr. Jones! I’m sure this is all going to be a LOT of fun 🙂 There is one burning question though, and I will leave it to Bill Mudron to ask:

Good luck to @ManMadeMoon in his attempt to find a way to work a Chesney Hawkes song into the Warcraft movie!

I’m just firing up WoW to have a wee mooch about, see ya later 😉

Celebrate Christmas With A New Duncan Jones & Sam Rockwell Film!

A Duncan Jones Film - Clone Alone (Christmas 2012)
A Duncan Jones Film – Clone Alone (Christmas 2012)

Ha! Just wanted to wish you all a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS. Thanks as always for your support over the last year. Very much appreciated 🙂

The image above is from this very interesting post from MOON Concept Artist and VFX Supervisor Gavin Rothery’s excellent Making Of MOON blog and shows a still from an alternative ending to MOON (ok I’ve been fannying about with it a bit). Check Gav’s site for all the details 🙂

Thought that would make a nice little Christmas pressie for those that have not read it before, maybe best to steer clear if you have yet to see MOON and are looking forward to it’s British “proper telly” premiere on BBC2, Sunday 30th December.

2013 promises to be a very busy year for both Duncan & Gavin (also currently working on secret Sci-Fi projects) so we look forward to bringing you all the news.

Have a great Christmas, and all the very best for the New Year.

Duncan Jones Provides Foreword to Olly Moss Book ‘Silhouettes From Popular Culture’

Olly Moss - Silhouettes From Popular Culture

We’ve long been fans of the work of artist Olly Moss. Even before he created these wonderful Mondo Director’s Series posters for Duncan Jones’ MOON & Source Code.

For Duncan that interest goes back to early 2009 when he first saw Olly’s take on a cover for Valve Software’s first person classic Half Life. Since then, Olly has continued to create work combining visual simplicity with a fantastic sense of humour, catching our eye with everything he produces. Those original Olly Moss works are hard to get hold of though, which is why it’s great news for everyone who shares a love of Olly’s work that his first book of collected works is released on October 26th 2012. That’s like…next Friday!

Looper & MOON Directors To Collaborate?

Sounds like a collaboration is in the works between two of the hottest young film Directors in town today after MOON Director Duncan Jones tweeted out his thoughts on Rian Johnson’s new release LOOPER:

Just got out of Looper. Thought it was fantastic! Don’t miss it.

For anyone out there who claims they love R rated sci-fi, but hasn’t seen Dredd or Looper, do it. This is the good stuff.

Duncan went on to get in touch with Rian directly:

Saw Looper at Arclight. You introduced! Brilliant! Huge congratulations. Wait till the buggers try to make you write a sequel. 😉

And before we knew it, the seeds of a collaborative movie mashup were sewn. Rian himself coming with a tentative title:

Thanks man, means a lot that you dug it!  I say we meld worlds for a dual sequel: Moopers.

Before going on to pitch it to the Sci-Fi hungry masses:

@ManMadeMoon and I are going to Cloud Atlas that shit up.

And after that, with the speed of the internet, you knew it wouldn’t be long before the mashup poster was born. So here it is, courtesy of Andrew Mayne

Andrew Mayne's MOON / LOOPER Movie Mashup Poster for LOON

So if you like the good stuff, and you want more from Rian, Duncan and others. Get out to your local picture palace this weekend and go see, support, and spread the word on  Looper and Dredd 🙂

And if you want to check on the progress of LOON, follow Duncan & Rian on Twitter.

Congratulations To Duncan & Ro – Engaged! :)

Great news to wake up to, Duncan got down on one knee, Ro went to help him up, and Duncan popped his hip…no, that’s not it…DUNCAN POPPED THE QUESTION! 🙂

And it seems like in a moment of madness, Ro accepted

Fantastic news, I’ve put a tenner behind the bar, but you’d better be quick!

Happy Birthday Duncan Jones!

Happy Birthday Duncan Jones - 41 Today

Inspired by the news of Duncan’s new project to bring the life of James Bond author Ian Fleming to the screen, here we have a DJ in a DJ.

This photo was taken in L A last night where Duncan is busy soaking in the whole Bond experience. It has not been manipulated in an image editor (I just knocked it up in an image editor)

Now why did I start this blog update…oh yeah…HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DUNCAN 🙂 Have a bloody lovely day mate 🙂
