Outside of SDCC and BlizzCon, no one has seen any footage from WARCRAFT since shooting began back in January 2014. There’s been much speculation that Duncan Jones and the gang will be screening a trailer, or at least a teaser, on Saturday during the Legendary Warcraft panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, but nothing definite. “What trailer?” has been Duncan’s response to anyone who asks. So, it came as a great surprise on Wednesday evenings SDCC15 preview evening when Legendary revealed a Virtual Reality app that enables viewers to take to the skys of Azeroth flying over Stormwind on the back of a Gryphon.
Created by ILM, the Legendary VR app for iOS and Android devices gives viewers the chance to immerse themselves in three Legendary films when used in conjuction with Google Cardboard (which some wag called Shaun Hildner over on Twitter called Oculus Thrift). Cool, huh?
WARCRAFT: THE SKIES OF AZEROTH
SOAR THROUGH THE EPIC WORLD OF THE WARCRAFT MOVIE
Prepare yourself for a spectacular first look at the cinematic envisioning of Warcraft. Climb aboard the back of the mythic Gryphon and ride the skies over Azeroth*: a fantasy realm as dangerous as it is beautiful.
“But I’ve not got Oculus Thrift” you say, no problem. You can run the app and view footage from WARCRAFT, Crimson Peak and Pacific Rim without. Fire up the app, launch your choice of film and move your device around 360 degrees to view all around.
Legendary VR is rolling out Worldwide on iOS and Android so keep checking if it’s not hit your region just yet.
