Since the release of MOON in 2009, there has been the odd request for a MOON merchandise. Unfortunately, there is no official merchandise available at the moment.
No official t-shirts, posters, badges, patches, mugs, robotic assistants, flowbees or sealed bags of beans exist. We occasionally manage to find some promotional bits & bobs to send out to competitions winners, or auction off for charity. But nothing you can actually order online, or go buy from a shop.
BUT WAIT! For MOON Director Duncan Jones has just told this:
There’s a CHANCE we may finally get to sell Moon posters & Collectors toys.
Basically we need to show there are at least 500 fans out there who would buy a Gerty desktop toy or a collectors Sam piece. 🙂
So, we’d like to get an idea of how many of you would be interested in buying some MOON gear, and what you’d like to be able to buy if it were possible. I already have a Lunar Industries hat and T-shirt I found on ebay. Would be great to see more merchandise, more posters…can only ever find Japanese versions on ebay. A Gerty desktop toy would rock and I’m sure would sell well, especially if there was a little button that would change the smiley face displayed for different moods…, maybe a rover as well. And maybe a return vehicle coffin for later in life?
Yes yes yes on the Lunar Industries stuff – I always enjoy merch that looks more like it would exist in the world of my favorite movies, rather than stuff that just has the movie logo plastered all over it. 🙂 [My desk at work is also covered in tiny robots and vehicles though, so I would also love a Moon rover to add to my collection!]
I’d shell out some cash for a MOON poster any day. The ball is in your court now.
A phone app would be great (if there isn’t one already?) Would be amazing if you could have Gerty’s voice notify you of a text or email!!!! The music as a ringtone, film stills screen savers etc.
I was already trying to find something on ebay, but I would definitly buy at least a shirt and a poster! I am a huge fan and I hope this pool goes well so we can all show our moon love to the world! 🙂

I really like the look of those patches. Just realised the poll was ‘what merchandise would you like’, I thought it was buy, would’ve ticked everything obviously. But in real life, being poor and all I could probably stretch to a t-shirt or a poster

MOON has the aesthetics to make good merch, so YES, I’d love some. The patches and the T-shirt looks absolutely rad.
If I could have a GERTY toy with interchangeable facial expressions I would be in geeky desk toy heaven.
If you can’t reach 500 people I promise to buy 490 items (assuming you do get at least 10 other
folk, and merch is priced around the £0.25 mark…). But I’m sure you won’t need me to do that
(please…). Anyway, this is a fantastic idea and I would love to cover the interior of my capsule with Moon stuff!
